Just my thoughts about things I see in the sports world. I'm pretty cynical and sarcastic, so I wanted there to be full disclosure in the name of the blog.

A woman's husband had been slipping in and out of a coma for several

months, yet she had stayed by his bedside every single day. One day,

when he came to, he motioned for her to come nearer.

As she sat by him, he whispered, eyes full of tears, "You know what?

It's been resolved, as everyone knew it would, but the snafu the folks associated with the Pepsi Center had with booking WWE’s “Monday Night RAW” for the same time as the Nuggets are to be ousting the Lakers in a playoff game, is noteworthy on a couple levels. First, it's not like the Pepsi Center and the Nuggets have little to do with each other. The Nuggets are the Pepsi Center's primary tenant. Even worse, the owner of the Nuggets, Stan Kroenke, also owns the Pepsi Center.

Now, there's virtually no way the lawyers who drew up this contract could have known the Nuggets would be playing a game on May 25, but it is pretty interesting how, apparently, even the possibility of such a thing happening did not cross their mind because there is nothing--as in NOTHING--are what would happen in the event the Nuggets--who are, remember, the primary tenant, had a game which posed a scheduling conflict.

You know it's Springtime in Texas when lawsuits are being filed because little Bobbie Sue, she of big blonde hair and even bigger, fake boobs, did not make the HS Cheerleading squad.

Because she missed too many days of school, Savannah Payne received a suspension, meaning she couldn't try out for the cheerleading squad. Because being a cheerleader is the dream of every Texan girl who is good looking and likes to jump around in tight and short outfits (as well as the dream of every mother of ever Texas girl), Savannah and her mother filed a lawsuit against the school in an attempt to avert this atrocity.

Maybe there's something to the complaint. Maybe there's not, but a judge did issue a restraining order on cheerleading tryouts. Needless to say, all the other Bobbie Sues (and undoubtedly their mothers) are not happy about the tryouts being put on hold.

This week the PGA is playing The Players Championship at TPC Sawgrass. Since Sergio Garcia won it last year, it got me to thinking about him. Most of America's first impression of Garcia was this kid grinning from ear to ear when he finished 2nd at the 1999 PGA Championship. He made wacky shots around trees and ran up the fairway to see where his shot was going. He had talent and personality. And he was only 19!!! He was a sure thing.

Only he hasn't been. He's 0-for-42 in majors. And we found out he's not so happy go lucky when things aren't going his way. After shooting a 74 in the second round of the 2002 US Open, he complained that the USGA hadn't stopped play because of rain and whined, "If Tiger Woods would have been out there, it would have been called."

December 3, 2008: The NHL suspends Sean Avery for his "sloppy seconds" comment. John Tortorella had this to his say about Avery on TSN: "The league stepped up here and I think they did the right thing. Enough is enough. He's embarrassed himself, he's embarrassed the organization, he's embarrassed the league and he's embarrassed his teammates, who have to look out for him. Send him home. He doesn't belong in the league."

Fast forward to late February, 2009. The Rangers name Tortorella their new coach. Jump ahead to March, 2009. The Rangers season is on life support. They're desperate, so they claim Avery off of re-entry waivers. Listen to what Tortorella has to say a mere 3 months later about Avery. "I'm the first one to say that Sean makes his own bed with some of the things that happened, but I think he's done his penance here. All I want is, I hope he's given a fair shake."
